Editing Contributing/Getting started

=== Introduction ===

Contributing is open to anyone and in return for your contribution, you can have your credits at the bottom of articles permanently should you wish. This may include link backs to your commercial activities.

We want the platform to not be intimidating, so we don't encourage too many rules and encourage you to rely on your common sense by looking at existing articles and considering taking ideas from those or producing something even better.

=== General ===

You don't have to have an account to create / edit articles, but you may prefer to, so you can keep a track of your contributions.

At the moment, we don't have automatic approval. When you make edits, we will be notified and will review your submissions.

Ideally articles should be fairly short form, yet informative enough to provide users with good foundational knowledge.

For now we prefer British English spellings, but we're not going to reject articles because of this.

=== Adding pages ===

Topics on the home page should follow this format:

** [[ Culinary/Cooking | Cooking ]]
</pre>

"Culinary/Cooking" indicates that "Cooking" is a sub page of "Culinary" and the "Cooking" after the pipe indicates that the page should be called "Cooking" and not "Culinary/Cooking".

When adding pages to those sub pages you can just add them using this format:

[[/Basics/]]
</pre>

Encasing the word in "/" characters indicates that the page will be a sub page of "Cooking".

=== Linear Articles ===

There are times when articles should appear in a linear fashion. For example in the Web Development section, we start off with the "Introduction to web development" article and the next article is on "HTML". It would be preferable to maintain a link to the next article at the bottom of articles. 

=== Non Linear Articles ===

These articles should be listed in alphabetical order.

=== Credits ===

Feel free to add a credit section at the bottom of any articles you contribute to and when we approve your submission, we will keep your credit on the article permanently. You may add one link back alongside your credit, or more on your personal author page.
